Their Very Own Love Story
THEY FIRST MET – SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY!
In October of 2015…the old fashion way, on Match.com. Craig had been in California for less than a year and Laura was working at a new start-up in Santa Monica. They started with brunch…Laura was off crutches for the first time.
THEY STARTED DATING
It was awesome…Craig was making reservations.
THEY FELL IN LOVE INSTANTLY – WELL ALMOST!
They dated, traveled, moved to Pasadena, bought a condo (or Laura bought a condo…and Craig moved in). Got a drone. Craig stopped making reservations.
… AND HE FINALLY PROPOSED!
In December of 2017, Laura came home to 150 white candles, 288 red roses and the Huntington family ring.
“You will know you are in love when…”
Craig was born in Ventura, CA. He moved to Las Vegas in the summer (obviously his parents choice…Craig is too smart to leave California) in 2001. From there he was off to Georgetown and then spent several years in Phoenix. In 2015 work brought Craig back to California and to Laura. Craig continues to live in Pasadena…despite having a house in Phoenix on a wakeboarding lake—that’s how strong his love for Laura is. Today Craig spends his time working at Alliance Association Bank, volunteering with the Nevada Boys State program and defending himself from Laura’s kissing monster. Laura thinks Craig is awesome, but questions why he owns eight pairs of the exact same color and style navy blue pants. (It makes packing easy! Decision fatigue is real.) Craig’s Passions: Laura, Nevada Boys State, AAB, long showers, looking for the perfect CrossFit gym.
“Together is my favorite place.”
Laura grew up in Pasadena with a love of dance, any animal that would let her pet or ride it, and all things outdoors or muddy. She attended Tufts University where, in addition to gaining a valuable education in economics and health care, she discovered her aversion to the cold. She returned to LA to defrost and continue continue graduate school in health care. After far too much time in school, Laura finally entered the workforce and landed a sweet gig at Kaiser Permanente, her family mother-ship. She felt a need for a career adventure and briefly left Kaiser to work at a health care start-up in Venice CA – where she met Craig…..and then dragged him back to Pasadena with her. She knew this was it– he was not only smarter and more suave, but he also made sure she was always warm, had dessert, and laughed with or at him daily.
Serendipity
Although there is no evidence to support this, and neither Craig nor Laura remember the event, at the age of 11 and 8 respectively, Craig and Laura’s eyes met across the medium of the 101 freeway from the back seats of their family station wagons…Craig was headed South to a Dodgers game and Laura was headed North to a Santa Barbara weekend…thank goodness for LA traffic. They spent the next 20 years looking for each other.
Gioia Jacobson, Maid of Honor
Laura and Gioia met in kindergarten, and have been on each other’s speed dial ever since. It’s said that your life expectancy increases if you have at least one person you can call at 4am and tell your troubles to, and they’ll let you know if this is true when they turn 103.
In addition to elementary school, Laura and Gioia have also been lucky enough to go to cotillion, equestrian camp, children’s choir, piano lessons, countless sleepovers, Italy, and France together. Although college took them to different coasts and they now live and work two counties apart, they still make sure to get together regularly for girl time.
Matt Huntington, Best Man
“Two Boys” was shouted from the porch and echoed across the neighborhood…it was time for dinner. Matt and Craig Lee were towing each other across the neighborhood on a 5-speed mountain bike and 90s style roller blades…it was an awesome pastime. A tradition that evolved into wakeboarding, snowboarding and general adventure seeking.
Since that time, “Two Boys” have always found time, even though they’ve lived no less than 500 miles from each other since Craig moved to college. Whether talking on the phone for 75 minutes, or Facetime/Skype walk through tour of a new apartment/home or to talk through how to build a boat list or replace a water heater. It’s a true brotherly bond.
This best man will be sure to entertain, don’t miss the show.
